About the Artist
I am a full time practicing artist. A year or so ago I put my commercial art business to rest so that I could travel and paint all day, and I'm loving it! I work primarily in oils, but often dabble in mixed media with acrylics, pastels, ink and monotype. I strive for all my work to have rich color, texture you can feel, and character you can experience. I sketch on location when I travel with pen & ink and watercolor, and use those sketches, photos, my journal and video reference when I return to work in my studio. I just returned recently from Italy. I was so excited and inspired that I am just getting warmed up with all of the ideas that I want to explore. Italy will certainly be the focus of my work for awhile but I never stray far from my love for painting animals as well, so they will also appear from time to time in my auctions. I also revisit previous journeys occasionally, so you just never know really what to expect. I'm having a ball playing and exploring whatever the subject, so come along for the journey and enjoy! My style, subjects and medium are all still very much in the evolving process, so the road is certainly winding, but with many exciting turns. Thanks for stopping by. Marion Rose
I have been a part of the beautiful Fraser Valley in BC, Canada since 1988. I was born in 1955, and raised in Saskatchewan. Since 1990 I have been self-employed as a commercial artist which has involved building several award winning parade floats, signage, mall displays and desktop publishing. I paint primarily in acrylics and oils.
